    Za les'yu.. well.

because za + instrumental (which les'yu is) = behind, beyond the [forest]

And I'm back, to those who remember the notorious Saudi guy

    hint
"С чий очи сънувам, чий е този лик обречен?
Смъртен глас ми се причува и отеква с вик далечен
Как да зърна да погледна, чуждий образ да прегърна,
на лицето ми студено грях в надежда да превърна.."

    Not really.

KV knows that За + instr. = behind.

But the instrumental of Лес is Лесом.
ью is the ending of feminine nouns ending in a soft sign.

    Ночь - Ночью

KV was asking why in the song the instrumental was Лесью, and not the expected Лесом.

Exactly... for some reason пролесь turned simply into лесь in this song...

Many folk songs like this one have been recorded in remote villages many years ago and contain obsolete and/or dialectal words and expressions.

Лесь is very likely a dialectal form of лес

Ль/ли pretty often occurs in old folk songs and "былины" (folk tales told in verse) without the modern meaning of question/doubt.
    For example:

"Пойду ль я выйду ль я да"

    "Ты река ль, моя реченька.
    Ты течёшь, не колыбнешься.

    Ты дитя ль, моё дитятко,
    Ты сидишь, не улыбнешься."

As Vladimir Dahl said about it, " Иногда принимает знач. темное" (Sometimes its meaning becomes obscure)

    ль - значение темное???

как это понять? распашу ль я - я темно распашу??

This is extremely interesting, please explain more what kind of nuances this ль gives the sentences! It might be dialectic, but now you have piqued my curiosity! Hopefully, I won't suffer the same fate as the cat.

    I hate quoting myself also.
Какая разница, умереть богатым или бедным?

Какой толк от богатства если ты не счастлив.

    I feel your pain.

I just can't imagine how someone is obscurely tilling his plot.

OK, here is five nuances of "tilling the plot", which one would be closer to the ль effect?

1 "I am tilling the plot"
2 "I am tilling the plot, or am I?"
3 "I am kinda tilling the plot"
4 "I am tilling with plot with difficulty"
5 "It is dark here, but I am tilling the plot"

    Thanks (stupid могучий язык )

None of the above, I am afraid. I think it's more like "Ay, I am tilling the plot, la-la".
