    As a follow on from the thread about можно and возможно, can someone please tell me what is the difference between these words?

    верно - in the meaning "maybe" it sounds a bit old and bookish
    наверно, наверное - used as "maybe"
    наверняка - mostly like "for sure"

    Раньше было "наверное" = "наверняка" (если читать Достоевского, Толстого etc)
    In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

    I thought верно mean "true". As my teacher used to say:

    It does and it's the main meaning of it. The other meaning is "probably", "most likely".
    Here's what Ozhegov dictionary sais:
    верно, вводн. сл. Должно быть, вероятно (разг.). Он, верно, не придёт.
