"капель" is plural. It's genitive from "капли".

So:
plural -> капли (nom.) - капель (gen.)
singular -> капля (nom.) - капли (gen.)

It seems that you think that it is "капЕль" - when snow is melting and dripping from trees, roofs, etc, usually in spring. It's not. It's "кАпель", as was already explained.

"капель" is plural. It's genitive from "капли".

This statement is true, but for feminine gender only, sometimes with floating accent. IMHO.

Yes. Both are pronounced "кAпли".
