I said thanks for his help "спасибо..." and I had apologized for my mistakes "сори за ошибки" because of which the situation had not been correctly understood.

I know what you meant. I just thought that Darobat probably wanted to correct what you'd written, altough it was fine.

What grades do you usually get (in school/university)?

Честно говоря, здесь есть специальный форум , где можно задавать подобные вопросы. Я имею в виду, что здесь люди, изучающие русский язык, обычно задают "тон". А для тех, кто хочет спросить вопрос по поводу английского языка, специально создали раздел "English for Russians".

Ok, I'm really confused. Was Сори just "sorry" written in Cyrillic, or does that mean something that was pertenant?

We often say сорри за что-то in Russian. Though it is not a Russian word we hardly ever think about that. Therefore, you're right - sorry = сорри. Similar pronunciation.

I've heard some people use it as the verb "to like" rather than нравиться but I guess it isn't exactly widely used.

EDIT: Googling "лайкаю" only gets 64 results so it really is never used. Never mind.

Another verb you can hear "воркать" = "to work". It's more about something than somebody. Eg: "Что-то ICQ не воркает".

As for people, "арбайтен" (German) is more common: "Даробат, арбайтен! Харош чатится!"

чатится = to chat (I guess you already know that)
