How would any of you native (or fluent) Russian speakers translate this word if it were said to you?:

напиваться

to get drunk

"напиваться" literally means "to to quench thirst", not necessary with alcohol

You're right. But the first translation that comes into my head when I hear the word напиваться (without any context) is to get wasted.
I read this thread yesterday and I didn't even think that there might be other translations

Is there a more specific version of "to get drunk"? For instance, in Spanish they have "beber" for "to drink (anything)" and "emborracharse" for "to get drunk".

There is no special polite word, but there are plenty of more or less rude slang words, which were recently named in some other topic (such as: нажраться, набухаться, нахряпаться, нализаться, ужраться в хлам, нахрюкаться, наклюкаться и т.п.)

Honestly, there are a lot of words I never use on that website. So don't take it serious.

"Намотать БФ на сверло" is my favorite.

Я вообще такое никогда не слышал! БФ - это что ещё такое? Полагаю, что-то, связанное со сверлами, и соответственно, дрелями.. Я прав?
