    I always thought it was a contraction of "that is the sh1t, isn't it?" (meaning "good") as used by rappers and other assorted illiterate morons.

    yeah. it probably is.. but one of my friends who is learning russian with me really wants to know if that is a word.. becasue it sounds russian. lol
