    SCUBA - акваланг (aqua lung)

Dry suit -

Wet suit -

    Buoyancy Compensator -

First stage regulator -

    Decompression sickness -

    Nitrogen Narcosis -

Enriched Air Nitrox (or Nitrox) -

(as in the surface of the water from the perspective of the ocean floor)

i.e. "I was low on air so I had to return to the surface."[/quote]

sometimes we also call it би-си-ди (BCD, buoyancy control device)

First stage regulator -
    correct.

    Decompression sickness -
in the Russian translation of PADI manuals you may come across декомпрессионная болезнь, but I guess кессонная is more correct Russian

Yeah, we call it the same. I usually just shorten it to "B C".

Correct! It is like opening a bottle of beer. When the lid comes off the bubbles of carbon dioxide are released from the beer into the air and surrounding area.
When an underwater diver comes to the surface too quickly the same thing happens to him, only the gas that is released is Nitrogen (from the pressurized air he has been breathing), which will form bubbles in his blood and under his skin. For this reason a diver must ascend to the surface no more than 9 meters per minute. This gives time for the Nitrogen to stay in solution while it is being released from the tissues and blood.
You don't want to become an uncorked bottle of champagne!

PS Does anyone know of any dive sites in Russia. Are their popular places for divers to go. Perhaps the Black Sea?
