    Вы красивая женщина.

wouldn't it be Вы красивые женщины. Because Вы always talks plural endings. Like ur talking to ONE person politely but it doesn't matter and u say вы хотели.

Which brings me to my next question. Why are you calling a woman who you think is beautiful Вы?

Ты красивая девчонка! That's what i'd say.
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!

    женщина is singular--> красивая женщина
женщины is plural--> красивые женщины means "beautiful women" if you are talking to one, you say it the singular way. Вы can be used as way respect sort of. But if you are talking to three women or something you can say: Вы красивые женщины but not for one.

Duh. But if you use вы you have to use plural i thought... even if you're only talking to one person.

what's the difference between девушка and девчонка?
I had it in my mind that the latter is more like 'little girl' .. thus it would tend to be used for girls less than, I dunno, 15. Would a man ever use it for his girlfriend?

Dyevushka seems to be used very much like 'girl' in English, in that you can use it when talking informally or affectionately about even a woman up to the age of 30 or more. And of course we all know how a sales assisstant is still a dyevushka even if she's like 45

PS I don't think there's anything that wrong with saying 'you're a beautiful woman' and using вы.. I mean it makes you sound more serious than using 'girl', it just depends on how you're approaching a relationship and what kind of people you are.

The English form of address is always plural (you are), because the singular form has been lost (with the one exception if you address god in a kind of archaic speech).
Nevertheless you will say "You are a beautiful woman" and not "You are beautiful women" if you are talking to one single person. It's the same in Russian.

Dogboy, русский in your sentence is a adjective. Женщина is a noun.
Vrei să pleci dar nu ma, nu ma iei
Nu ma, nu ma iei, nu ma, nu ma, nu ma iei

    Девка, девочка, девушка, девчонка.

Just diffrent ways of saying girl i think. I don't think that девушка is just for little girls, just like"baby" in english, isn't just for babies.

Like in Brat when he's on the bus, and he is talking to the grown woman, but he calls her "девушка".

Just like you might call your wife "baby."

I've heard people say all 4 when talking about girls, and i usually use all 4 at diffrent times too. Kinda like english "Girl, Chick, Lady, Mama" and so on.

    "Look at those fine ladies"
    "Hey pretty mama"
    "She's a nice girl"
"Damn, there's alot of hot chicks here".

They all make sense, and they are all used, but, it's just. I dunno. Situational? if that's even a word.

Also, you could get into the diffrent uses for Пацан, парень, приятель...
Just like in english. Guy, dude, man, boy, kid.

    "What a cool guy"
    "He's a nice kid"
    "He's a young boy"
    "Hes a crazy dude"

    and so on.
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!

Dogboy, if you read my post carefully you'll see it was девчонка I was really asking about ; dyevushka is I guess the most common variant and I think I've got a reasonably good handle on how that one's used. I agree with what you say about it.

That’s right, in general, for example this line from Ералаш:
Мальчишки и девчонки, а также их родители весёлые истории увидеть не хотите ли?
But in some sense it may be considered as an informal synonym for девушка. Also when it’s used among close friends especially if they are together since youth it may not depend on age.

Девушка is almost never for little girls (unless one says it jokingly). As far as I remember I was called девушка for the first time (it was on a bus) when I was twelve and I was kind of surprised because I thought I was too young to be called that way.

As for plural with the polite form:
    Verbs: plural
    Adjectives, nouns: singular
    Example:
    Вы красивая(sing) женщина(sing)! Куда Вы идёте(pl)?

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought.
The first time I heard it was in that awful song where they sing " ты малчишка был, девчонка я была .... " and I was curious as at that point I'd never heard it before at all.
Didn't hear people use it really in everyday speech, but then I didn't know any young children as far as I can remember.

how about dyevchata (from that Lyube song ) ?

It's also informal for девушки. There's also an old film called девчата.
