    Please help me understand this

    Hi,

I've read the lyrics of a song somewhere there and bumped into

a kind of phrase which i'm not really sure about..

    the pharse is:

Стремился быть мужчиной чтобы ты мною гордилась,

I know it means " aspired to be a man so you will be proud of me"

But.. I also know that гордилась is for он - она - оно

    and not for ты..

please explain why the sentence is built as гордилась and please give example if possible,

    thanks in advance

    Right.

But.. I also know that гордилась is for он - она - оно

    and not for ты..
Wrong. "Гордилась" is past single feminine of the verb "гордиться". It is appliable to the first (я), second (ты) and third (она) person similarly.

In Russian verbs in the past tense conjugate only in number and gender, not in person.
"Россия для русских" - это неправильно. Остальные-то чем лучше?

What exactly there makes you feel wrong? I think it is much like English sentences.

The bad thing is that "I" is missed in the beginning, but it may be because of the previous sentence.

Who said you this? "Гордилась" is for "я" (if the speaker is feminine), "ты" (if the one being addressed is feminine), and "она" (not "он", not "оно," no way! with "он" we use the masculine form, "гордился," and with "оно" is the neuter form is used, it's "гордилось").
It's not about the first, second, or third person, it's about grammatical gender.

[Я] стремился быть мужчиной, чтобы ты мною гордилась.

In this case "ты" is the mother, that's why the feminine form is used. )))

i know all the words.. but the full sentence..

I think it means something like " your hairs became gray early because of me " like..
meaning you grew much older because of me..
