Parenthetic phrases like "I think", "I hope" etc are used in Russian much more rarely than in English. That's why the phrase "Надеюсь, ты найдешь время, чтобы мне написать"="I hope you can find the time to write me back." - sounds extremely official and cold in the correspondence of two young girls.
