    A few simple phrases.

Can someone please check. I am writing another story.

    He is not perfect
    Он не совершенен,

He traveled across the land. When he reached the water, he bought a boat.
Он путешествовал через земли. Когда он достиг воды, он купил лодку.

I am trying my very best.
Я пробую мое самое очень хорошее.

    This is my favorite song.
    Это - моя любимая песня.

A rose by any other name would still smell just as sweet.
Роза любым другим названием все еще пахло бы так же, как конфета.

I am condemned to study this language for the rest of my life.
Я осужден учить этот язык для остальной части жизни.

I scream at the top of my lungs
Я кричу изо всех сил потом

    шепчусь из пустоты свой сердса
I whisper from the emptiness of my heart

    The end.
    Конец.

Какая разница, умереть богатым или бедным?

Какой толк от богатства если ты не счастлив.

Роза, названная любым другим именем, все равно пахла бы столь же прекрасно.

Babe, I'm very sure that this doesn't carry the same connotations as it does in English.

Why not? Anyway, without the context it is hard to give a correct translation.
And what do you mean by "Babe"?

Because it's an idiom, and idioms do not tend to translate well. Unless there is one phrased in exactly the same way in the target language.
And what do you mean by "Babe"?
Just imagine that I look like this when I say that:

    Gh3y club, most definitely.

So anyhow, Russian-speakers, am I right in thinking that "a rose by any other name..." cannot be translated directly into Russian?

    Про розу, кажись, нету поговорки.

Назови хоть горшком только в печку не ставь.

Well, this is a phrase from Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare (thanks to Google ).
    Several translations (from different interpreters):

Роза пахнет розой, хоть розой назови ее, хоть нет.
То, что зовем мы розой, - и под другим названьем сохраняло б свой сладкий запах!
Все так же сладок розы аромат, когда другое имя ей дано.
Как розу ни зови - в ней аромат останется все тот же.

My translation was not poetic, but its meaning was just the same.

"Хоть горшком назови, только в печь не ставь", если быть точным.

Look, as far as I know it was Shakespeare who said "What’s in a name, That which we call a rose by another name would smell just as sweet."

That is, it's not some fixed linguistic structure like idiom or proverb but rather qualifies as (at most) saying, so you don't expect to find some fixed counterpart in Russian that would be known to everyone, or do you?
After all there're lots of sayings and most of them wouldn't have the match in Russian.
ex. "Advice is an uncertain gift" Whitney Jeffrey .

So the answer is you're right -there's no exact match
After some effort I can give a dozen of sayings by Pushkin, Lermontov ... that would be very hard to translate.
