    what would be the equivalent in Russian to the expression "There's romance in the air...?"

    I think you could use "В воздухе витает [что-то]" or "Воздух полон [чем-то]".

    1) В воздухе витает любовь.
    Любовь там в воздухе витала,
    Со вздохом каждым опьяняла.



    2) Воздух полон романтикой.

    3) Воздух негой полон.
