Please Help Me With This Song

    Hi,

I'm new to the board but I love the language very much, even though I don't speak it. I've been having a hard time trying to find out the words to this song, or even what song it is.

Please, someone, if you can, give me the translation and if you can, the transliteration of this song into English. It's sung so you'd have to hear it. Here's the link:

    Thanks so much!

    Счастье каждому померещится
    Когда в небе светит луна
Песни звук в тиши вечерней слышится
А в душе лишь тоска одна

    Что ж вы, молодцы, призадумались
Ведь на радость жизнь нам дана
Боль слегка и грусть уже развеялась
    В наших песнях вокруг костра

    Счастье каждому померещится
    Когда в небе светит луна
Песни звук в тиши вечерней слышится
А в душе лишь тоска одна

It has very simple and usual words, seems like this soldier wrote this song in his sparetime between makeup and costuming. It can be one of countless but real songs which had been written on the war and then recalled by someone's grandson in the cru.
    It's an approximate translation.

    Anyone can feel the happyness
When the moon is shining in the sky
The sound of the song is heard in the silance of the evening
And there is only sadness in the soul

Felllows, why are you in so deep thoughts
The life has been given to us for joy
The pain and sadness have a little bit disappeared
In our songs around the fire

    Anyone can feel the happyness
When the moon is shining in the sky
The sound of the song is heard in the silance of the evening
And there is only sadness in the soul
    Я так думаю.

    Thanks

Thanks you soooo much! Would you be able to transliterate it for me (spell the words in English)? It'd be marvelous and I'd so much appreciate it.

    Okai, let's try

    Schastie kazshdamu pamire-schi-tsa
    Kagda v nebe sve-tit luna
    Pe-sni zvuk f tishi vicherney sly (y like i in ill)shi-tsa
A f dushe lish taska adna

Shtosh vy(remember ill) molatsy(ill again) prizadumalis
Vedi na radosti zshy(ill)zni nam dana
Boli sleh-ka i grusti uzshe razveyalas
    V nashy(ill)h pesniah vakruk kastra

So, the bold letterrs are stressed vovels whuch are sang longer, and the tinny i should always be spoken harry, almost unspoken. And the y like i in ill is the Russian letter ы, which I can't explain better.
And I am in a great doubt about the letter ж - like G in Geneve. I mean it is DJEE (letter gee) without the first D and I wrote it like zsh, hope it works.

    Good luck!
Dont be shy to make us hear what you will get finaly!
    Я так думаю.

    Jenny,
If you are having any trouble with Ж, just pronounce it like the 's' in "treasure". It's usually transliterated "zh".

    Pronunciations

That will help very much! I'm finding that the best way for me to pronounce things is to continually hear it. I can imitate accents fairly well, so I've been told. I usually try to stay away from it, though, because I don't want to butcher the accent. Russian's a bit harder for me. That, and Scottish. You're comments really help though.

If you listened the song you must be heard that that soldier makes the first a stressed. It's wrong, but otherwise the rythm would change.

What a nice idea - I mean s in treasure!
Was it fair for ы in ill then? What are you thinking Kot?

I think the tune of the song was obviously stealed from "Подмосковные вечера".
    Я так думаю.

I suspected that the stress was non-standard in the song, but I didn't listen to it first. I shouldn't have doubted you.

As for ы, there simply isn't an equivalent sound in English. I think it can only be attempted after hearing a native speaker provide an example.

Occasionally, though, I've suggested to people who are really having trouble to try to say the word "we" without moving their lips. That's kind of close approximation, but still not exactly right.

    Sorry
