    Seems absolutely unprobable.
Pelevin is way too much esoteric for Hollywood.

Does anybody besides american "intellectuals" read his books?

It becomes a hit in America, and receives an Academy Award. Pelevin has not "sold out" to Hollywood, and the movie is true to the book.
    This scenario is science fiction.

Honestly, I'm not going to see any film based on "Omon Ra" -- don't care, is it made in Hollywood or anywhere else.
In 1990 it may be looking like a very innovative and daring novel. Now it's just a lampoon.

Improbability is not relevant to this hypothesis.

I am not an "intellectual"...and neither are some others I know who like his writing. Again, not relevant. Must someone be an "intellectual" in Russia to like, say, Mark Twain, or Kurt Vonnegut? Stanislaw Lem?

I'm flattered that you group me with "intellectuals"
...but no, I simply like to read and think.

Again, not relevant to the hypothesis. I'm not asking probability, but reaction. You're avoiding an answer.

I'm sorry that you didn't get more out of the book. I got a lot more out of it, getting into life and the "human condition"...full of allegories and metaphors. It's not only a "lampoon". But, to each his opinion.

**shrugs** Not everyone likes the same books.

By the way: dear Pioner, I am so much glad to see you herel So far, I only read this forum (and I like it very much), but maybe now it is the time to begin writing... :P

I wonder that nobody mentioned the movie "Aftershock" (about the earthquake in New York) where very pleasant Russian taxi driver was portrayed...
