Well, comedy club is pretty funny I guess, Its just too 'in yo face' / fast paced for me, so I probably don't understand most of the jokes.
BUT ok BOZO. Looky here!!
I'm pretty sure I work with rocket and jet FUEL everyday including nitrogen and oxygen in liquid and gaseous forms. As well as several types of petroleum based propellants.
I know what you did, dude.
It doesn't take a rocket fuel specialist to see this. You named off some gases, probably the first ones that came to your head when you were trying way too hard to be funny. Some overzealous a*hole (me) came along and needlessly corrected you. You got offended, read an article on Wikipedia and all of a sudden your a chemistry expert.
Look, man, 70% nitrogen anywhere would kill you. Most of this nitrogen is probably way way up in the highest reaches of the atmosphere, Whereas this 23.7% oxygen or however much it is, is the same from sea level up until you cross into outer space. The oxygene level never changes. Pure oxygen isn't entirely 'bad' for you either. It would take months and months to have side effects. But seeing as how pilots breath pure oxygen on missions, some lasting 24+ hours, they do just fine.
And just so you know, they don't add little bits of nitrogen and or other superfluous gases to the pilots breathing apparatus as to "recreate their lungs natural environment". 100% oxygen seems to do the trick, and no one has burst into flames yet...
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!
With all due respect, 78% of nitrogen is in fact present in the air we are breathing.
The fact that nitrogen dissolves in human blood at higher pressures results in aeroembolism among amateur scuba divers (speak to anyone with scuba experience to confirm that, and that nitrogen present in the air).
By itself, Nitrogen is chemically inactive (well, almost) and quite harmless at normal air pressure. It is the oxides of nitrogen (NO, NO2, N2O4) that represent danger to humans.
I'm not a rocket fuel specialist, but as far as I know, nitrogen doesn't support combustion so it cannot be used as oxidizer. Nitrogen tetroxide (N2O4), on the contrary, is quite deadly. It supports combustion and is used as oxidizer in liquid fuel missiles. When it is mixed with unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine [(CH3)2N2H2] (liquid rocket fuel - very poisonous too), the mixture self-ignites.
Send me a PM if you need me.
Small correction: the first main ones that came to my head. The simple scientific fact that the air we breathe is mostly nitrogen and oxygen is so commonly known, that I'm not really sure what the fuss it all about. And for the human beings to live on Mars they would have to recreate the similar atmosphere there. Of course, when you doubted that simple fact, I think the best would be to support my words with Wikipedia or any other trusted source, wouldn't it?Originally Posted by Dogboy182
Also, who rattled your cage? Just trying to impress Danka, aren't you?
1) U can have life without nitrogen. The only use it has is inflating tires.
2) If you were in a room with 78% nitrogen you would be unconscious in 30 seconds and dead in about 3 minutes. Sure there might be 78% nitrogen throughout the Earth's entire atmosphere but its not like you're breathing all 78% of it all the time.
Theres a big difference between the Earth and room. Or even the Earth and Mars.
3)Sure, Nitrogen is non flammable, it displaces oxygen making it impossible to set on fire.
4) if you wanted to make mars a paradise there would be no need to "recreate our natural habitate" by adding nitrogen in the atmosphere. You could substitute it with other gases like hydrogen, helium, argon, methane (so you smell good) and of course if you wanted any photosynthesizing organisms, carbon dioxide. But as far as I know nothing needs nitrogen to live.
And nothing rattled my cage other than, I just had to step in when for like the 4th time now, I saw your unsuccessful attempt at trying way too hard at being funny. And it seems it worked. No one is making fun of Danny girl and now my once thought useless knowledge of fuel has come to some use. Everyone's a winner.
And, no, I'm not into 18 year olds, no offense.

LOL and I'm sorry Mr crocodile but,Anyways, you see, TATY, had we have a more significant portion of oxygen ("Kislorod"), we would have been burned alive from the inside
As any 4 year old can see,

You need more then oxygen to start a fire, you need an ignition source, like say, Fire, and another source of fuel, say, petrol.
Sure our bodies are something like 98 degrees Fahrenheit but the flashpoint of oxygen, while I don't know it, is not that cold. SO unless you were inhaling pints of nail polish remover and swallowing lit matches, I can safely re-assure you that we surely would NOT randomly burst into flames.
The only thing that would happen is we would probably have stronger bones and need less sleep. But its not a perfect world, sadly.
And I'm still not sure why you put all these random words in quotes . Is that another attempt at being funny? Is it some kind of ironic kislorod?("Kislorod")
So, are you done?

You are a very very strange person, Dogboy.Originally Posted by Dogboy182

Ok, let's try one more time before I give up to convince you of the real scientific fact. Since I realize you like pictures better, please have a look at the following link which has A LOT OF PICTURES you can enjoy while you also learn: http://www.chemistryland.com/CHM107/Air ... ition.html If you find that reading tedious, here's a small excerpt (which means "part of the text"):
"8 out of 10 atoms (or molecules) of air are made of nitrogen. In the movie Total Recall, there was an ancient alien factory that could release the oxygen from the Martian soil. Actually, this atmosphere would be pure oxygen, which is not good to breath for long periods and would present extreme fire hazards. It's lacking the 80% nitrogen. Imagine the volume of air in a typical classroom that is 30 feet by 30 feet with a 10 foot high ceiling. Also assume, we separated all the gases. Oxygen would cover the room to about 2 feet deep. Nitrogen would fill almost to the ceiling (another 8 feet minus a couple of inches). "
But, if you don't like that explanation either, don't worry. Also, if that was too funny to you, also don't worry. When you grow up you will learn to focus on what is important and what is not important. You will hopefully also get a sense of humor different from just putting "LOL" in your posts. [/i]
Yeah but the ladies love me.Originally Posted by Crocodile

But hey at least we have something in common. I get ALL my facts from Hollywood movies too! Right on dude!
Well anyways I brought up the room deal because I'm talking about the SCALE. Mars is smaller than earth, if you had the same amount of nitrogen on mars as on earth there would be problems, just like if you, put to scale, 80% (How much is it by the way? 70 78 80%? Your numbers keep changing) nitrogen in a room with 20 percent oxygen you would, if not be dead, be at least brain dead.
When we fill liquid nitrogen (and this is just liquid nitrogen, not even in gas form) at work (where our containers are outside) we need at least 3 people in case someone passes out and don't lay there and die.
Well anyway, hope ur getting a kick out of ur new online chemistry G.E.D. for free but I'm done with you reptilian.
Peace!
ps. The picture was for you, movie man.
pps maybe one day you'll learn how to use forum code [/i]
ppps ur still not funny. LOL ROFLMAO JK K THNX TTYL BYE!

I liked the video when the Russians were trying to impersonate Americans who were trying to speak "survival Russian". They even recited an "Americanized" reading of a famous Pushkin poem at the end.Originally Posted by TATY
