Thread: phone call

Hello,
Ive been trying to phone Odessa.. when I call it is beeping( which I guess is a ring) but then it makes the sound that the line is busy. I called recently a few minutes ago( around 2 am in Odessa) thinking nobody would answer, but again it made the sound that the line was busy. How can it be busy at 2 am in the office? It made no sense. Does anybody know what I might be doing wrong?

If the call nuber is right, then probably there were some troubles with the line. Try again.

Do you think I should keep trying? Ive tried many many times.

Is there anything else I can do to make the line work? It always makes the sound that it is busy after ringing for a while. I know the number is correct.. does anybody know?

Maybe something’s wrong with your telephone company...

maybe they changed the number, maybe they dont want to answer. you got an address you can go to?

Mm... Is there a company I can call that could help me connect better? I wonder. I couldn't do skype, I've written but often never get a response I wish there was a way I could connect.. the only way I can think is to keep trying.

Here is some information:

If it is difficult to dial a number, it sometimes helps to wait until the entire number's "pulse" is complete before entering the next number.
A busy signal is the same sound as an incorrectly dialed number.

The pulse system is slower than the digital system of dialing. Some telephones allow you to switch between these methods of dialing. So it may just be that you are sending digital signals when you dial the number, and these signals are not being correctly received by the pulse system in Ukraine, if that other source I quoted is correct.

Are you certain you have the right number? Have you EVER connected with that number?

Are you sure the people are still at that number - it hasn't been disconnected?

Can you contact them another way? Do you know their neighbors' phone number? Otherwise write a letter and let them know you are trying and ask to confirm their number.

You can try waiting about 2 seconds between each number, that is about how long a pulse dial would take. This is a long shot, though.

I will try. I am sure on the number.. however I am calling because they don't write so I am hoping I can reach them this way. Hopefully it will work!

If you are calling to a cell phone and the person you are calling is on roaming you may have trouble getting through. If you are calling a cell phone you may have problems in the best of times.

It is actually not a cell phone, but rather a regular phone. I will try a few more times to see if it will connect, and if it doesn't work I will try to call an operator to see if they can connect me. Do you think it is a good idea?
