Dorms in the winter are cold so everyone plugs in electric heaters and overloads the circuits causing fires. Dorms in summer are hot so everyone opens the windows and some fall out (usually after too much beer) which is a bad idea since the dorms are many stories high.
So now you can make an informed choice of which season is best. (Personally, since the fire stairs are always locked and not accessable, I would choose summer and not drink too much.)
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.

LOL...ok thank you for that JB. In that case I will opt. for vodka instead of beer and hopefully not fall out of windows.

Russkayalove, the most important thing you should remember for your trip, and this is utmost important, is the following words of wisdom:

Водка без пива - деньги на ветер!

I think in Russia you are not allowed to purchase alcohol bevereges before 16. That is the law. No, it mostly a guideline de facto.

Nope, I am pretty sure it is 18. That is why all the clubs will not allow in people who are under 18 (and some petersburg clubs do enforce this!)

which has better clubs and nightlife, Moscow or St. Petersburg? Also, is it really dangerous for foreigners to go out to the clubs at night in the city, even if they are with other people?

Can't speak for Moscow, but St. Petersburg clubs is 100% safe for foreigners, especially when with other people. I never heard of any problems.

At the clubs in St. Petersburg everyone, once they figure out that you're American, will be overcome with the desire to tell you their opinion of Dzhordzh Boosh. Other than that it will be fine, unless you're an idiot.
