There is already such Arabic forum. Scroll down very far and you will see all of them. Although if it's hard enough for regular visitors to this site to find the new additions, imagine how hard it would be to find such forums by internet search...

BTW, what say you we boycott the Norwegian forum? GAHHH! FJORDS! DAMN YOU!

I'd view it as a primer in that MasterAdmin can see which languages "take-off" and start getting traffic. Those that do will, no doubt, be awarded their own forum going forward.[/quote:1bukhz8q]
Right, those new language forums will be moved from masterrussian.net (sooner or later). That's just a beta as it is. I don't see much sense in having other languages on masterrussian, so I will move those that go well. For now, just take it easy and have fun

A Scandinavian forum seems much more sensible than just a Norwegian forum, Norwegian/Swedish/Danish are dialects and not languages in every sense (except the political ones).

Where was this Norwegian forum moved to? I am interested.

Furthermore, on my personal wishlist is a Fennic forum (Finnish, Estonian Karelian, Saami languages, Kven, Mordovian, Mari) or possibly even a Uralic forum (which would open up for Hungarian, Komi/Permic, Hanti/Mansi and Nenets languages). But I suppose that's in my dreamworld.

When we had a site survey going there was a question about other languages people were interested in. I was surprised to learn that many people were interested in Norweigian besides Russian. Hence, the Norwegian forum

I would appreciate a forum for the French language since I will be studying it as a university minor this year. Better yet, can anyone suggest what they personally find is the best online resource for learning French? There's way too many websites but I would love for a site to be as comprehensive and accessible as MasterRussian.com/net.

I found it curious that no french forum was added when the changes were made.

Personally, I like http://french.about.com. There is a site and a forum. And their French Guide is a very nice woman who loves French and France with all her heart.

Bah, je deteste le francais. Je peux le parler un peu, mais je ne l'aime pas. Il y a deja beaucoup de "forums" sur l'internet et nouns ne devons pas en avoir. Bleh. French.

FYI: The forums "Beyond Russian" do not seem to be doing well. We are thinking of putting them all in one place, closing them, or moving somewhere else.

One place: good idea. Depending on your plans, of course.
expat.ru has a single 'multi-lingual' section. Although that's hardly a paragon of website design

I like the separate threads for specific concerns.

I really like how you have the forum set up now. There is a strong emphasis for Russian, and smaller forums for different languages. I wouldn't reccomend closing them, or combing them.

The only people likely to use the new language forums are Russian-learners already here who happen to be learning a third (or fourth, or fifth) language. For example, nobody learning just French is going to visit a French sub-forum on a Russian language site called 'masterrussian.net' when there are so many French language resources already available on the net.

Your point makes sense. It now depends only on our policy whether to seperate the forums and give some of them a new life, or leave them here for a relatively closed circle of visitors. Going global would change the place, and staying focused on Russian would contribute to higher quality of language-learning discussions.
