What "religious groups"? There aren't any in Russia powerful enough!

Secondly, They are adult cartoons, and meant to be watched by adults, not children. I smell something fishy!

But channel executives have suggested in recent interviews that the religious campaign could just be a cover-up for corporate raiding.

"Someone apparently needs our frequency... There's this bloodlust, there really seems to be an organised campaign against this channel," 2x2 director Roman Sarkisov said in an interview with the Kommersant daily this month.

Pro-Kremlin member of parliament Pavel Tarakanov on Tuesday said the channel's frequency could be taken over by a new state-controlled patriotic youth channel instead of cartoon "pornography".

This is probably closer to the truth!!!

I heard it Russians didn't consider it a terrible loss since the humour is different anyway and South Park is American/English humour?

Was I misinformed? It sounded pretty believable because I know almost no one understands Australian humour besides Aussies.

Mmm... I believe Russians are very good in understanding subtle humor (not that in these cartoon series humor is VERY subtle), that's why we have so many weirdos who like Monty Python.

So back to topic... I know quite a lot of people who are big fans of Simpsons, Futurama and South Park (mainly males in their teens-early 30s), they have all seasons on DVD and find it hillarious.

But have you ever stopped to watch The Simpsons intently? Just do a little experiment and whatever your age is, except when you are under 15, you’ll be surprised to know that people love them not without reason.
Don’t use the Russian version though or you’ll spoil the pleasure forever.
For starters I’d recommend earlier seasons.
