That's a common superstition. No one woudl argue, that eastern Ukraine is mainly Russian speaking. So people who speak Ukrainian here use "surjik", a mix of Ukrainian and Russian.

That's again depends on the Region.
You know, I'm not a professor of Ukrainian philology, but when I read in different articles statements that Ukrainians pronounce "в" like "w", I start thinking...
Personally, I say mav.
However, people from western part can say maw instead.

Hey, that's not a Ukrainian forum, don't confuse people :wink:
Although, "у меня есть возможность поехать в Киев" sounds perfectly for me.
I'd rather say that "иметь" is used in more official speach, while "у + gen" better suits to converstaional speach....
