When I tried to use that "where are we?" Frapper link up there, I entered the name of th city I was living in at the time and got "Invalid City!" barked back at me, and thought, "that's a bit harsh"...

It was an English sentence, so I used English grammar. If I'd written 'от' instead of 'from', I'd have used genitive ...ов.
