Its always difficult to tell what I remember most, because when I think of the word St. Petersburg its like a movie starts...
Vasilevsky island, Nevsky prospect with Passage, House of Books, metro, the yards, everything passes by. Most impressive is the remembrance of all those ancient buildings!
I'm surprised by the fact that each time we visit St. Peterersburg we find some new areas with beautiful historical mansions. Even
visiting a friend who lives in a communal flat of soviet times in the centre of the city, is for me an impressive event. Everywhere in
St. Petersburg different moments in history are present! Super!
Also surprised that I feel so "at home", each time when I visit the city again.
What is your first idea when you think of St. Petersburg?

my first idea..this town is so various in each of seasons.
it's Pushkin(small town is near from St. Petersburg ) in autumn. trees are in the yellow, red and special smell(old leaves), many mushrooms and berries.
sea and melting asphalt are in the summer.=)

know what you mean, although I've never been to Russia in autumn and I do recognize the melting asphalt Once I was in winter in the park of павловск. Snow as high as the knees, freezing (-19) but sunny. What a atmosphere! Almost no people around, some mist type of air with this wintersunlight, as if in the fairytale! Now I understand why Russia has that many(fairy-) tales.
