Thread: How to express sarcasm in Russian (written)

Hiya,

When talking it pretty much speaks for itself that the tone will suggest sarcasm ...

That's very difficult to do in written form ... you can't really transfer a tone when writing something.

'Молодец' and 'конечно' can easily be identified as being sarcastic when actually saying it to someone ... but when I write this to someone they might actually think that I'm praising them or agree with them while in fact I'm trying to be sarcastic.

Is there a better way to express sarcasm in written form ?

Surely, you can use brackets, like that))), The more the better, but you should limit your sarcsam just as well. Also you can add particle ну, like that, Ну конечно)), ну ты молодоец)) ну ты даешь)) It makes your sarcasm even more prominent. IF you exaggerate something it also looks like sarcasm. Too much sarcasm sounds insulting. Beware))
