While looking for something else on Youtube, I stumbled on this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwOj-ccD0IY
I was amazed by the effect it had on me. It brought back SOOOO vivid memories, and I just kept listening to it over and over again. I've just taken a break to make this post .
I was 3 years old when it became a hit, but I can remember very clearly how my parents (very very young back then, considerably younger than I am now) and their friends danced to this song at their parties. They didn't dance it quite the same way as the chorus girls in this video. They (or, rather, we, because children usually participated in this one dance) formed a conga line, with the hands on the waist of the person just in front of you, and did those funny moves with their legs, while the entire line moved foreward around the room. I don't know about other people, but I have a feeling that among my parents' friends it was considered bad form to not participate when everyone else was dancing Letka Enka. Not that anyone ever tried to stay away from dancing, for they were a very cheerful and active crowd. When they were having a good time, they were having it with reckless abandon. I don't think I have ever had more fun in my adult years then they had had back then.
And this song just made me remember those days...
