Thread: Am I hearing this correctly?

This is a phrase from the Pimsleur CD's (Level 1 - Lesson 4.) They don't explain it because you're expected to answer "Я не понимаю." It sounds like she's saying: Вы не знаете? Где здесь хороший ресторан? - Do you know? Where is a good restaurant here? Is that correct?

Yes, she asks "Вы не знаете, где здесь хороший ресторан?". It's not two, but one sentence, she just makes an exaggerated pause between "знаете" and "где".

Thanks gRomoZeka! I thought I understood the words, but I wasn't certain of the translation. As for the punctuation, I haven't even mastered English punctuation yet, so I have a looong way to go in Russian, but I'll keep working on it.

It must be working. I'm pretty good at not understanding Russian.

Я не понимаю is one of the first things you learn on Level 1-Lesson 1, so they like to work it into the conversation from time-to-time for a refresher.
