    What he says

    1.
Could someone tell me how the next phrases should be translated in Russian: "What he says" and "What does he say". I suspect they all should be translated as "Что он говорит?". But the first sentence is not a question and the second sentence is one.

I've been listening a VOA's podcast about the elections in the US. Here's the link: http://www.voanews.com/english/2008-01-22-voa7.cfm I was not able to write down Obama's words as I didn't highlight any words in your speech ( http://learning-eng2.narod.ru/flakus_de ... debate.mp3 ) until I saw the transcript. All I've heard was the following:
    Clinton: He's not.
Obama: <???> I can't tell the one my against some tems up

I really don't hear all the words typed in a source of the article. So do these words really exist in his speech? Do you hear them clearly?.. Or what do you hear when you're listening an audio-file?.. It would be very interesting to know that. Give me your thoughts!

The first phrase can be a question as well if pronounced with question intonation. And if it's not, like in the sentence "what he sais is hard to understand", it can be translated like "то, что он говорит трудно понять".

Я тоже слышу "I can't tell who am I against sometimes" (без "running"). Может, он быстро говорит, да и аудио подквакивает. Вот и сквакало слово.

Эт Клинтон вопит. А я вообще слушаю и думаю: "Надо же, какой у Клинтона бабский голос". Дошло только минут через пять, почему. М-да...

Я слышу там "running". Может быть, оно не совсем чётко артикулировано, но оно там есть, вне всякого сомнения.

    He says:

Ok well I can't tell who I'm running against sometimes.

Thank you all! And especially thank you, basurero, for the correction my grammar mistakes. Since that moment I will remember that I have to say "listen to the radio" (not listen the radio).

Как говорила моя учительница по математике в школе: "(Теперь обведите это)В рамочку, и на всю оставшуюся жизнь"

    P.S.
By the way the transcript of the article at voanews.com is wrong. It reads: It's hard to tell who I am running against sometimes.

Мне кажется, это довольно часто происходит, что пишут не те же слова, которые говорят в интервью. Скорее всего, им лень и носителям языка все равно.

I don't think "да и" fits here good because "лень" and "всё равно" aren't about the same.

    Sounds not good:

Probably they're lazy and native speakers don't care too.

    Sounds good:
Друзья собрались в бар по пиву, да и мне не мешало бы выпить.
My friends was gonna go to the bar for a beer and I'd better have a drink too.

    Or it's only me?

    Sounds good to me.
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.
