TATY, I've been meaning to ask you, do you like spuds with sour cream? Does your name come from "potato"? Do you ever sing oh me taters oh me 'ot fried fish? Why do you look like someone I've seen on TV? Am I asking too many questions?

My picture is of Alla Pugacheva. You should know who she is if you are actually Russian. Yes, I have a potato fetish.

I'm not sure where I would like to go. But Id like to be able to stay with a family and see everyday life as it is lived, rather than stay in a hotel and go to all the tourist places. Id buy the same kind of goods the family would buy to contribute and the most important things Id take back are photographs and my journal. But I would probably also take home similar presents to the ones I would buy the family as a thank you with perhaps one 'traditional' object for myself.
More madness than method but it works for me.

I am planning a trip to Russia. I will start in Moscow. I intend to visit at least Kolomenskoe and the Tretyakov Gallery, some churches. I suppose the Kremlin maybe, but I've seen it once before. Walk around the old part of town, maybe visit the Arbat and Izmailovo. Go to a ballet, but I am not sure I have enough money for that. Would like to take a day trip to maybe Tver.

Then take the train up to SP. There I want to see the Hermitage and the summer palace in Pushkino. Maybe Peterhof. St Isaac's and Church of the Spilt Blood, never been inside it. Want to take a boat ride on the canals. Mariinski opera or ballet. Walk down Nevsky. Watch the bridges go up for the night. Would like to see Varlaam or Kizhi, but they may be too far away.

Not really much in Russia that I'd like to bring home other than books. Maybe some music. Will definitely take pix and keep a journal.
