I haven't heard the term "mutual work" very much, so I am not sure what it means. How about "teamwork" ?
teamwork n.cooperative effort by the members of a group or team to achieve a common goal. . . .
(спорт.) сыгранность команды, артельная работа, совместная работа или деятельность

    >I haven't heard the term "mutual work" very much,
neither have I. but our russian/english dictionaries give such definition

    >so I am not sure what it means. How about "teamwork" ?
I thought of it, but I couldn't figure out how to use it in [the] context of [the] given sentence. (btw im not sure wheter i should use definite or indefinite articles here (or nothing at all) could you enlighten me on this subject??

    i have now more variants:
    let's plan our teamwork
    lets plan our work together
    lets colaborate on this
    and my original
    lets plan our cooperative work

what's better? what sounds more natural?

In the variants you've come up with I don't see a need for any articles. (If you mean what article goes in the brakets [] then you correctly chose "the" because you are referring to a definite context and definite sentence.)

    I like > let's collaborate on this
alternative > let's collaborate on a project (here you use the article "a" when you have not specified a definite project)
alternative > let's collaborate on this/the project (here you are speaking about a definite project)

actually I ment this part of the phrase when i was asking about articles.
"it in [the] context of [the] given sentence."

Yes, with a slight correction > Let's plan our cooperative work

However even though the word "project" does not appear in your Russian text, it sounds more natural to me to have the adjective "cooperative" or "joint" modify that word, instead of "work". So if you are working on a project, then consider this alternative > "Let's plan our work on this joint/cooperative project."

I have a dictionary that translates the phrase совместная работа as teamwork. I think that makes the most amount of sense...
