    toting around?

What does "toting around" mean? For example "Toting around your TV" (a headline).
I couldn't find it in the dictionary.

    Thank you.

Ни разу не слышал такого выражения.

I've only ever heard 'toting' used to describe the carrying of a firearm.

    Gun toting.

Yeah, "gun toting" is the most common phrase with this word in my experience as well .

But dictionaries mention other ways to use this word. For example, Random House says:
    tote1 (t$t), v., tot·ed, tot·ing, n.
    –v.t.
    1. to carry, as on one's back or in one's arms: to tote a bundle.
    2. to carry on one's person: to tote a gun.
    3. to transport or convey, as on a vehicle or boat.

    Longman:
    TOTE also tote around [transitive]
informal especially American English to carry something, especially regularly
Kids have to tote heavy textbooks around.

Note that "especially American English." Probably that is the reason why you Brits haven't heard of this usage .

The word "tote" has nothing to do with guns. It is used that way sometimes by people who wish to imply a negative feeling when describing someone who has a gun.

"Tote" can be used anywhere "carry" can be used. Also, a small bag can be called a "tote bag".

So, it can be said that, " I tote my gun in my tote bag."
