    new in this forum

    I'm new in this forum.
On seeng the phrase in one of the posts here on this forum I almost instinctivly knew that it should have been new to this forum or to a lesser extend new on this forum, but having googled each one of the three variants up, with quotation marks, I got a bit baffled by the fact that all three had fair amount of hits, to this forum being a leader. Does that mean then there's nothing wrong with I'm new in this forum sentence?

There is an interesting thread discussing this issue on another forum: http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=70592

Alex... I can always count on you and Elearner to ask these really great questions!!

After reading the link that translationsnmru posted, I thought about how I would would both would write and say my responses. And I think I would interchange them depending upon the reason for them. Example:
Your first one was about the forum in general:
"On seeing the phrase in one of the posts here on this forum" And I believe I would say and write it that way. IN a post ON the forum.

However, I would actually say this as "I am new TO this forum"
I only speak two languages, English and bad English.

    How about this one:

    I am a newbie here/on this forum.

I think I would go for it.
I also concur with "to": you are new TO something.
Aint it a shame you cant say fu_ck?
Fu_ck is just a word and it's all fu_cked up.

So to this very day the rule is there are no rules, eh? Follow your sixth sense and you’ll be good.

Man! After rereading what I wrote if you did not know me you would think I am not a native English speaker... You can tell why I hardly post ON this forum any longer! How many "would" do I have in that one sentence? I can hardly make any sense out of it and I wrote the darn thing!! And here I thought I was doing better today! Sorry for such a garbled mess Alex, but you know for you I try to answer!!!
