    catch on

    I need some help with traslating this part of a sentence: 'Operators hope data services will catch on as 2.5G networks roll out this year.'
    What do the phrases 'catch on' and 'roll out' mean here?

    Точечка протерялась. И не только. В гугле наша сила.

    The winning entry was clocked on an SGI 1450 server. DB2 7.2 is due to ship on June 8, while the SGI-Linux-IBM combination system is expected to be commercially available from October 31.

    Т.е. победитель (db2 , а не мелкомягкий скл ) был запущен на sgi1450. А поставки db2 7.2 ожидаются 8 июня.

    "It used to be that email was just one of the many jobs that a general-purpose server handled at an installation"
    How would you translate the phrase 'at an installation'? What is the meaning of the preposition 'at' in this case?

    It's just saying the location where the server is -- an office building, for instance. It's NOT the installation process -- ie loading the software. I think you'd just use your prepositional в/на in Russian.
