Thread: More words 4/20

These are the words I am trying to memorize today.

Считать = count/consider
Колотить = bang
потрескаться = to crack
Локоть = elbow
Висеть = hang
Поправить = to repair
Лень = laziness
подниматься. = to rise
свидание = appointment, meeting, date
Запоминать = to remember
Шапка = cap/hat

Can anyone put these into a sentence so that I can get a feel for their meanings?

E.g.
I always count the hats that are hanging on the wall but I never remember how many there were.
Я всегда считаю шапки, которые висят на стене, но я никогда не запоминаю, сколько был.

When I banged my elbow, I cracked the window, but I was too lazy to repair it.
Когда я колотил локоть, потрескаюсь окно, но я был слишком ленив, чтобы поправить это.

Когда я стукнул("Колотить" means a continious banging) локтём, треснуло окно, но я был слишком ленив, чтобы починить его. Also instead of "но я был слишком ленив, чтобы починить его" it's better to say "но мне было лень его чинить"

Kwatts, why are you only learning one aspect of the verbs. Learn them both yo, or else u can only say one aspect.

пытался окно шапками закидать - кидал-кидал, кидал-кидал...даже не запомнил сколько их и набросал. Короче - докидался, локоть себе вывихнул ..и окно треснуло. А чинить - лень, да и на свидание уже пора.

It's not a sentence but a situation:

Однажды утром...

Лень подниматься так рано! Вчера расколотил будильник из-за этого. Потрескался корпус, надо его поправить. Запоминаю на будущее. Да ещё и локоть об него ободрал... Сколько же времени сейчас? Надо посчитать... Эй, у меня ж свидание скоро!.. Где моя шапка висит?

My God... I didn't realize that either, I always saw "Friendly" when I read it... I can't find it now, but there was an email going around that had a paragraph in English, and the letters of the words were all mixed around, but as long as the first and last letters were kept in place, you could read it without problem...
Anyone know what I'm talking about or have it?
