    How to become a gangster.

We all know the real reason you are here is to either try out for spetsnaz, pick up russian chix while disko dancing, or become a gangster.
The first two have been discussed endlessy, so, now, my guide, for you, from the original russian gangster "Догги".

Урок 1. Shorten everyday words almost beyond recognition. For example.

    Сёдня - Сегодня. Example.

Как вечера, санёк ты сёдня проиграл!

    2. Give guys girly names, and girls, guy names. For example
    Мой брат, димка
    моя сестра, натик

    3. Nomatter where, or when you are shot, it is never a bad time to ask for a попирос

    4. Always carry a Пишка.

    5. Insult your family, who does nothing but try to help you out.
~мама приготовила завтрак который застревает в горле.

    6. Use the word Бл**ь every other word and sound like a complete moron.
    Ты чё бл**ь? не понял бл**ь ? я сказал отпусти его бл**ь !

    7. You need to shave your head untill 100% Лисый, get a крутой player, and some наушники, and a sweet leather jacket. Once you master all of these skillz, and buy your gear, you are ready to walk around the town (yes walk, russian gangsters walk everywhere. Unless you would like to use the electrichka, or steal a БУМЕР) scaring anybody and everybody untill you get sent to spetsnaz camp to get your life straight.

    ~Урок закончилась~

    Mutually exclusive?

Here's another one: always say 'schastliva' to someone when you leave, even if you've just screwed them out of 1000 baksov or beaten seven kinds of s**t out of them

oh and when you meet an inostranyets of whatever nationality, always say 'ей, американец! Ssank you verry maach!' and then laugh loudly as if you have made a brilliant joke!

Never stop smoking, even for a second, or you will die (OK Dogboy already got that one).

Never be seen in the company of less than 2 women. And of course, neither should be your wife.

btw I don't know what I'm talking about

Curiously it's sitting in my computer too! But not s subtritami

Sorry waxwing, you have it wrong. Allow the master to learn you the ways real quick. Russian gangsters are almost never seen with women. Infact, that would be conterary to the whole Братва theme wouldn't it? Even though they are only seen with other males 97% of the time, they still find a way to appear suprisingly viril and straight.

It's the Болшебство of the russian way.

BTW, bood point. Take american words and find ways to make them russian.

    Examples

    To skip class
    Скиповать - Imperfective
    Заскиповать - perfective
    Я скипую
    ты скикуешь
    скипал,ла,ли.

    Букс - bucks, dollars, money
    56 буксов - 55 bucks. (A gangster had to seize 1 bucks)

    Кульный - Cool
    Ура - Hurrah
Компаст диск - Laser inscribed plastic sphere containing music.
    Гангстер - Matt Kerby.
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!

I believe they use 'бакс' not 'букс'. With an amusing double-plural, but that's already been discussed.
Not all of my comments came from films D You will meet quite a lot of 'biznismen' if you have an evening out in the Russian provinces. You may choose to call them 'gangster' ... if you're brave

Dogboy, you can 'learn' me any time. Damn, man, you really have spent too long speaking Russian

Типа пацаны, о чём базар? В натуре, Догбой, ты гонишь - бакс он и в Африке бакс. Так что братан ты попал - за базар отвечать надо

Is there some kind of 'Russian slang' dictionary available on the web? I'm really interested in this, both personally and professionally.

Is there any kind of 'American slang' dictionary of the sort that you are inquiring about? I seriously doubt it. They will be incomplete in the least. We could try to compile a kind of glossary here.

From the Boomer. Not all slang is gangster type, though.

Кот, а откуда у тебя лавэ (money) взялось?
    Что за предъявы (claims)?
Вы что попутали (...) что ли? Крысу (greedy person) во мне увидели?
Укачало вас по ходу (space-filler of a kind)?

    and so on...

Actually there are many slang dictionaries for English available. I even found two such here in Stavropol..
I didn't necessarily mean just gangster slang, although that might be a subset..

I have an NTC's dictionary of American slang but I've barely heard a word listed in it from Americans. Plus, I've heard much more common words not listed in it. I think the best way to learn slang that is really used is either to talk to Russians/Americans who use this slang, or look it up in forums and blogs dedicated to contemporary slang.

It's OK overall and has a buch of handy words for a wanna-be gangster like you, dogboy. But there's a buch of words that will make you a laughing stock. Search it for the words I wrote above and you won't find any (at least at the moment I'm typing this message :)
