Thread: What's a typical school term / school day ?

I saw a lot of kids in their best clothes and carrying flowers this morning, and someone told me it's because 1 September's the first day back to school after summer.

What are the typical start and finish times of a Russian schoolkid, and the term-times etc ?

Aww Sept. 1st, I remember that! All the flowers and school uniforms, lining up outside the school...

Well school starts Sept 1st every year (maybe there are exceptions though) Depending on the school, the year is usually broken into quarters or trimesters. We had trimesters, so it was sept/oct/nov, dec/jan/feb, and mar/apr/may. School usually ends aroung May 25th or so.
