Thread: Traditional songs

Along the lines of Ochi cherniye, Kalinka, Katusha, etc. What would be a really easy one to learn? I like Kalinka and Krokodila Genya, but K.G. is rather extensive, lyrically, and Kalinka is hard to sing. =P

Why not? Yes they would, its a folk song. Everyone knows it and hums/sings it once in a while.

~I think both versions are marvelous, i can't decide which i like better.
The original is well, original, and the RR version i think utilizes alot of newer technology to really make the song sound "refreshed"... yet it still keeps it's "traditional" ring.

In all the songs, the words stay the same.

That's such a pretty song! I've never heard it before. I don't think it's either folk or classical....maybe it's from an old Russian movie? It sounds like it could be.

It's certainly not a folk song but I won't be surprised if it is considered classical some day. Алексей Рыбников is a modern composer (born in 1945) and Ирина Отиева is a popular singer. I read somewhere that in the movie she is singing in duo with someone else. I think the song was made specially for the film (Рыбников composed music to a lot of movies).The original text is by Rabindranat Tagor (1861-1941) and the Russian text is by Аделина Адалис.

Rabindranath Tagore?? Wow been a long time since I heard that name. Now I'm intrigued.
