Post about a 78rpm record by Leonid Utesov (Леонид Утёсов)

Hello, i recently wrote a post on my blog about the history of Soviet jazz and a 78rpm record by Leonid Utesov (Дорогие мои москвичи). I made research and read the book «Red & Hot» by Stephen Frederick Starr. I really would like to have the opinion of the forum's members about my article (anything to add? A comment to make?). I hope you will be interested in this post! Here the link : http://ceintsdebakelite.wordpress.co...78-rpm-record/
    Thank you

    Hi.
The time you wrote about was hard time in Russia, time after the revolution and before world war.
You right about relation of Stalin and other authorities to musicians, but, I think, you had to make allowance.

In other pieces - article is good.

Song at the end of article used as background theme for end titles in wonderful russian film "Покровские ворота" ("The Pokrovsky Gate")

    Hello Dondublon,
Thank you very much for your answer and for this information about Покровские ворота, i will add this to my post !
Could you be more precise when you say I should have make allowance ? Did something in particular hurt you, or seemed wrong to you ?
I'm preparing the second part of my article, focusing a pianist Alexander Tsfasman.
Greetings and happy new year !

I have a lot of things to explain, and, nevertheless, you may disagree with me.
In 1917 two revolutions happens in out country, in February and October. This mean social and economic catastrophe.
After this foreign invasion begins - american, english, french, chezh.
So, the music wasn't very important question at this time.
Stalin understood, that new war isn't very far, and began industrialization. The jazz music wasn't important again.

So, you wrote the truth, but not all the truth.

    Also, you wrote:
In 1932, after a period of terror, jazz was finally rehabilitated.
Terror just begins. And the terror wasn't applied to musicians - it was against priests, aristocracy, rich peasants.

    Hello,

Thanks for your answer and for mentioning this film. I wish we could discuss together about this topic. I never meant that terror only targeted musicians, but my post focuses on musicians, that's why I stressed this point. Anyway I posted the second part of my post and wrote about the Great Purge of the late 40's : The Golden Age of Soviet Jazz (2/2) : Alexander Tsfasman (Александр Цфасман) on 78 rpm record
Your comments are welcome, they are really useful for me. Thanks.
