    Divorce for russians?

Hey all, i apologize in advance, as im sure this doesnt belong on this forum.

A friend of mine, female, is living in another country with her husband. Both are russian citizens, but she holds german citizenship also. She wants to divorce him. To divorce him in germany they must live apart for a year first. Is it possible to divorce on the russian side at her local embassy maybe?

    Any advice?

    Chris

To live apart for a whole year? What barbaric laws! Thanks to our superior justice system a divorce in Russia is done at the blinking of an eye. If two grown-ups don't want to be together no one has the right to stand in their way.

Chris, me laddo, isn't it you she's going to marry once she's left her Russian hubby, eh Chris, am I right or am I right?

    Well actually

well to be honest, we've been together for 2 months now. They've lived apart for 4 months. He's causing some trouble for her now so she's bypassing the german law, by divorcing in russia, before he gets citizenship. that forces him to go back to russia. This by the way has nothing to do with me. The trouble was happening before. Im just unsure of if they do that at consulates.

    divorce

Chris, you can't slip anything past Vending Machine, he's much too sharp. I can't help directly with your query but have you thought about going on to one of those legal forums where you can post queries for free and a lawyer will answer? Otherwise just ring the Embassy in whichever German city you're in and ask

There are lots of ways a woman can divorce her husband if the law is too draconian. Here are a few, take your pick:

    Cutting edge

With this approach you can divorce all at once or a bit at a time. Did Mrs Bobbitt have the right idea?

It gives a new meaning to the term "separated."

I know this post is pretty old, but I just saw it and had to put in my 2 cents.

Chris mate, you broke up a mariage!? I don't know anything about you but, sheesh, you're in my bad books now...
    You're not funny... no, wait!
