    Two questions involving "it"

    1. When you refer to an unknown object in Russian, do you use 'oн', 'oна' or 'oнo'? I mean, when you don't know the gender of the noun because the noun is unknown. Like, 'What is it?' Or, 'I think it is...' (etc).

    2. My book did not cover this next thing properly. When saying 'its', do you use 'егo' for all forms - masc, fem, neut? Or is 'егo' just for the masculine & neuter 'it' (and 'him'), while 'её' is for the feminine 'it' (and 'her')?

Это or оно, depending on context. For example, "What is it?" = "Что это?"

    That's correct.
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.
