Thread: Teaching myself Russian, will this method work?

    I used Pimsleur for about 6 months before starting on the New Penguin book. This made the book easier. And I think this method that you have chosen is good, however, unless you are a raving genius you will not be anywhere near fluent in 2 years. Especially if you only study 1 hour a day. I recommend using the cd for as many hours as you can and using the Penguin book and looking on the web for exercises to do in ALL your spare time. It will have to consume your life. And you still wont be fluent. Not unless you move to Russia and cut off all English speaking contacts.

    You can reach a high level in a language in two years. But it would be easier to learn if you take classes.

    А мне кажется что я "где-то рядом с беглостью" , и, по моему расчету, только изучаю русский за год и 10 месяцев. Так, это возможно, если у человека достаточное время и мотивация...
