    Girlfriend speaks Russian:( need help

    Hi all,

My name is Ahmet and I am a linguist though I speak English Turkish German and a little French but im on a beginner level in Russian. I need to speak Russian so much because my beloved girlfriend speaks Russian. We have been together for over 8 months and we are currently into a serious relationship. I am so decided to speak Russian and everyday I try to go a little bit ahead. Is there anyone who can suggest me some ways of learning faster or any kinda resource that can help me regarding the issue. A piece of information would be helpful to me about CDs or booklets. Thank you for your advice in advance poka

I like to use CD's (any CD's) because I can listen to them while doing other things. I find this good for learning vocabulary. I use a variety of books for grammar and other aspects of russian. What is your mode of learning, so far?

    What's up, Ahmet?
Welcome to the forum, I'd say about half of us (at least the male population) here started learning Russian because of a woman/women.
I would say one of the best books is the New Penguin Course book, but like DDT says, CD's are great, because you can learn pronunciation also. I had a tutor from Turkey for a while, but I wasn't sure how my pronunciation was, so I recently started taking classes at a local community college to get the feel for a native speaker.

I agree! New Penguin is great! BUt he may need a book written in his native language.

PS, I thought that you already had a "feel for a native speaker", Phantom.

    thanks guys

thank you ddt and phantom. Yeah im quite new to the forum. But I am not new to russian language as you know many people have something to do with Russian language esp. in the southern parts. More than anything I am a linguist and had some course regarding Russian at school. But the real reason to start Russian course is my girlfriend. Because I feel that she can not explain her love in English and sometimes she can't help cryning and saying something in Russian loudly. Then I feel that I have to learn Russian to understand her and to explain my love in her native language. By this way, I will be able to demostrate her what I can do for the sake of her happiness

    merhaba yigit

O Turkiye yi cok sevdi benim yanımda yasamak istiyor. Burada beraber bir iş a

    I have already started Russian!

    Privet!

Hey guys it has been long time since I havent sent a post to the forum. I just had a look at my last posting with the title"girl friend speaks russian" and see that it has been screened over 1300 times Suppose many like me...

anyways, I have already started to learn russian with pimsleurs full audio cd set. it is full 90 units and aims to take you the upper-intermediate level. Hopefully I will achieve this in 3 months on schedule

Well, my problem is, I have no writting scripts of Pimsleur's Russian. Does anyone knows where can I find the books or download them? Actually it would be better to download. As it took me only 7 hours to download full audio set from the net

    thanks in advance!

Sorry dude. 3 months wont get you there, at least not with the Russian language and definitely not with Pimsleur.

True true... it's in fact quite depressing, even though I am not Russian, I think it's rather sad that the current contribution of Russia to the world culture and economy seems, well... limited....
