    "Advanced" Russian book

Hi all. I've finished my Penguin course for some time now, and I'm ready to move on. Which books would you recommend for someone at an A-level+ standard? I already have a learner's dictionary (nicholas brown), but I need something that teaches me more grammar and figures of speech etc.

    Thank you

Heh, Jasper, that was kind of a form message. You could try that Oxford book Mixaelus mentioned. Or you could just do what I did and bumble around for 3 or 4 years reading Russian novels and websites

What is meant "by form message"? I am not good being English. As for that being everyone standard question some you ask? I have known, but still that answers it it needs.

Something is meant by "type message"? I am not to be good English. Assuming, that it is everyone, you ask several that standard question? I answered had known that still and that that needs, but.

It is meant as for something by "type message"? I am not proper with good English. Supposing, that that is everyone, is standard question plural asked? That I need, answer that still you know and.

Is that meant by "type message" in regard to something? I good English and am not appropriate. Are that hypothesis and the standard question plural which are everyone asked? I needing, having known still answer.

Is that meant in regard to something "by type message"? I where it is not appropriate good English and AM. Are standard question plural and its hypothesis which are everyone asked? I where you have known still, as for needing you answer.

Is that meant by "type message" in regard to something? The place where it is not good English or AM where that is not appropriate I. Are hypothesis and the standard question which are group of everyone asked? When you know still it needs that you answer to in regard I.

Let's cute English! I who am bad state permit me.

Comrade, reminds me of one of those "independent thinking chatbots" on the net I saw a primitive one the other day and just spouted a bunch of crap into it...
    Me: ALLAHU AKBAR!
    Brain: And Allahu akbar you?
    Brain: And Akbar Allahu I?
    Brain: Akbar
    Brain: You Allahu Akbar?

And BTW, by "form message" I meant one of things which people new to a forum leave: Hi I need help with this bla bla bla Thanks! You've been around here long enough, Jas!

when i finished th penguin russian course i bought 'Intermediate Russian - a grammar and workbook' im on chapter 12 or 13 now, but it is good since it uses lots of newspaper articles. you get good vocab and grammar too. whilst im here i also think 'Russian Stories' is a good buy if you have a good level of russian; it has about 12 short stories by Pushkin, Gogol, Tolstoy etc. its got one page russian and one page english, short questions (in the back), notes and a vocabulary. one piece of advice since the stories are quite old its worth thinking about the words you learn. пример: the other day whilst chatting to a russian i decided to throw in recently learnt word давеча, only to be told that it's llike 100 years old

You almost certainly mean the Intermediate workbook, but just in case you mean the story book, I'll tell you:
"Russian Stories" edited by Gleb Struve ISBN 0-486-26244-8
    Published by Dover

I was lent this by a friend but have decided not to use it for the same reason - the language is archaic and the vocab. too advanced.
Still, it does have stress marks! .. and side-by-side translation.

Oh, I have that book! The only reason I remember it is because his name's Gleb Struve. Yeah, the lang is a bit archaic but it has some nice selections of short stories from famous Russian authors.
