    Russian Movies, Theatre and TV

    I dont get to see any Ruskie movie in blockbuster etc etc. Do russians make movies at all?

    No, they still use puppet theatres for entertainment. It is big business over there!

    Do they have puppets in Russia? Such luxury! Here in Sweden we just go taunt the ice bears when we want good entertainment..

    i agree. this is not even funny. here in north america they do think that in russia bears walk on streets.

    yes, there are movies. and there are whole bunch of movies and tv shows being produced, just not sold to the western public.

    on the other hand.... you might as well ask the same question about french, german, etc. can you buy a german movie in a blockbuster?

    i was looking for "asterix and obelix", french movies, and none of the blockbusters ever heard of them.

    i once saw "вор", but not on dvd.

    by the way. i just remembered: i have got lots of russian movies on dvd, but most of them without subtitles. my boyfriend doesn't understand russian, but he likes most of my movies. i am looking to maybe trade them for the ones with subtitles. does anybody have any?

    Make the subtitles yourself! That's what I did for Операция ы... I downloaded the russian subtitles at subtitry.ru and then translated it into English... Yes, it took some time, but it was worth the effort!

    Well, you need to download the film to your computer from saome website like http://multiki.arjlover.net/ and then you can edit it, then you can burn it to a DVD... It is hard work!
