Pshaw. Homophones don't make a language hard to learn. At least not on English's scale.

But that's just vocab. Or even more like just pronunciation. English grammar itself is not that hard to learn.

:P Guys!!! You forgot the funniest ever! Take a look :

He didn t go to the movies he HAD HAD a difficult examination on the previuos day and was tired.

When I show HAD HAD to people who teach my mother tongue, they speed to gag! But... I agree that identical words don t muddle the learnning af a language at all ( mainly if the native language has a vast vocabulary, just like mine ). In the beggining it s hard to bear ( fiddling the dictionary ten times ) ( GET for this, GET for that, GET for nothing apparently, because sometimes it has no translation ) but after some time learners get ( not intended ) very much acquainted to the identical words.

I am studying Russian and the lexican is much vaster and the meanings much more peculiar than in English. So sometimes I miss the moments I needed to look up on the dictinary twice/thrice for the same entry.
One more thing: the verbs TO DO/TO MAKE are very confusing for some learners, too. But not in Russian.

See you, guys, buy. Ops! By! Ops, again, bye !!!

I often pay out English's spelling-to-spoken flaws, but there's no doubt it's a great language to play with. A poet's language, I've always thought . Though, I'm not good enough in any other language to gauge their poetic lendings. But, English certainly is a barrel of playful monkeys!

You know, why don't I ask?!! Anyone who is competent enough in a non-English language to know, are other languages equally versatile to play tricks with?

All languages are versatile enough to play tricks with. As for "equally versatile" - there's no way of gauging that.

We Russians usually say "давайте пить" before "давайте, за Родину" and only after a few drinks we say "давайте петь".

    Changes to the English Language
The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would be known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, 's' will replace the soft 'c'. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard 'c' will be dropped in favor of the 'k'. This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome 'ph' will be replased with the 'f'. This will make words like 'fotograf' 20% shorter!

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expected to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double leters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent 'e' in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing 'th' with 'z' and 'w' wiz 'v'. During ze fifz year ze unesesary 'o' kan be dropd from vords kontaining 'ou' and similar changes vud of kurs be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

After ze fifz yer ve vil hav a rali sensibl ritn styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evriun vil find it ezi tu undrstand ech ozer.

Zen Z Drem Vil Finali Kum Tru!
