    Jokes

In the days of Bresjnev a man in the Sowiet-Union was asked by a reporter what he thought about Bresjnev. That man wasn't very willing to answer this in public, so he asked the reporter to come with him. They went into a house, and deep down in the house, in the cellar, where he was sure noone else would hear his answer, he whispered to the reporter: "I don't care what others say. I like him anyway!"

При Хрущёве была так называемая оттепель: всё можно было.

lol, you were 7 when Breshnev died and you are telling me how you and your friends were making fun of him and nothing happened.
    A) That is pretty cognicent for a 7 year old to know about politics
    B) You are a kid, you are excused in any case

I was born on 5th of april 1973. Brezhnev died in 1982 in the fall, so I was 9 then. We told so called "политические анекдоты" to each other. And as you said I had started making fun of him at the age of 7. I told those jokes to my parents too. Everything was OK, nobody forbad me doing this. I remember one of them "Летит в самолёте Брежнев, Косыгин, Суслов... и т.д. короче всё политбюро. Вдруг у самолёта отваливается дно и самолёт начинает падать. Все вцепились кто во что может и Косыгин говорит "Товарищи, если кто-нибудь не прыгнет, погибнут все", Суслов говорит "Давайте тянуть жребий", Брежнев "Не надо тянуть жребий, товарищи. Я пожертвую собой!". Раздались долгие продолжительные аплодисменты... (it's common phrase from Communists party meeting's reports). So, if you want I could remember more jokes and anecdots...

    Kruchev

Well, since you're asking: I will be 50 this year, born in the autumn of 1956. I should have been 26 when Kruchev died then. In those days the USSR was'nt that interesting. The first interest for Russian I got when a relative started learning Russian with the Norwegian army. He is today a language professor with the University of Oslo.

    What about this joke:
A train stands at the railway station and won't leave the platform. Stalin gets the train staff shot, but train does not leave. Then Kruchev gets them all rehabilitated and appointed to "Heros of the Soviet Union". The train still doesn't leave. Finally, Bresjnev rolls down the curtains and says:"Let's just pretend that the train is going!"

    German jokes

I have found these pages for jokes in German, also with some DDR-jokes. 'Unfortunately' you need to know German to be able to read them:

My relative is Arnfinn Muruvik Vonen. He knows at least Russian, Samoan, and the language of the deaf in Norway. He works with the latter language at a school/centre for deaf people in Norway, and is there part time together with his job at the University. From time to time he has lectures at universities abroad, or participate at language conferences around the world.
