"Клёвый" is not a computer slang, it is a general slang word, dating back to 1970-s or 1960-s, when there was no "крутой" yet.
With the pace Russian slang changes it's hard to keep up. Крутой парень was more like a Wise guy and not a Kool guy ... That was more then 10 years ago. I'm sure Клас is still being used as cool by older generation. I'm sure Неформалы came up with some new definition of cool by now. Лихо has been used as cool at some point and Клёво has been resurrected by Generation X witch is the version I prefer my self. Клёво just sounds клёво
