    ширь... pronounced like 'шы'?

    The 'рь' in 'ширь' doesn't seem to be pronounced like the 'рь' in, for instance, 'дверь.' The whole word sounds like 'шы' to me.
    Have I just heard it being mispronounced?

    It sounds like шырь, just like that. Maybe you really heard someone mispronounce it or you just couldn't make it out.

    Ok, thanks. I'll look around the net and see if I an find different audio with it in.
