Thread: Russian Products

Where can you find Russian product in Chicago? The closest have seen was Polish products. One had Russian written on the back, as well as Polish and English. Those were Polish biscut cookies. I would really appreciate any help. The only Russian products I own are CDs I ordered online. I would love to find somewhere in the Chicago area where I can buy Russian products (food, music, magazines, etc.) Please help my deprieved self.

Well, I have bought Russian products, but based on my username and profile, you can probably guess that their all firearm related.
I have a Russian Rifle and just bought a Russian pistol.
Particularly, I have an SKS and the pistol I just bought is a Makarov.
Actually, I have to have that checked, since it is listed as a Bulgarian Makarov but has the Russian double stack handle, and Russian Makarovs are known to be sold under the Bulgarian name.
I also use to sell Russian Anics airguns.
Anics airguns are a hit and miss. I only made one order of their A-101 Magnums and never ordered again. That's because all but 5 ( out of 20 ) didn't work at all and required ALLOT of gunsmithing to get working right while all 5 of the ones that worked drained all the Co2 in 5 minutes.
I DID have some A-112s and they were the most impressive airpistol I have ever fired.
They shoot at around 500-520fps and get 120 shots before the power starts to go out. An amazing airgun.
The SKS ( picture of it shown below ) is OK. It's extremely reliable and durable, but VERY cheaply made and not the most accurate rifle in the world. I also try to stay away from the Wolf, Bear and Surplus ammo. If you ever wonder why the Russians never hit James Bond, just try that stuff and it'll all make sense.
Fired the AKM-74 also and it was actually a pretty nice piece.
Although I don't know if the Russians ever used it ( would be thankful if someone would inform me ) I also have a CZ-52 pistol ( also shown below ) in 7.62x25 Tokarev and it's an EXTREMELY impressive handgun to shoot. It's my preferred firearm for long-range silhouettes and for a reason.
I am not familiar with any other Russian products that I know of though.
The general impression I get from Russian products are cheap but made to work well for whatever their designed for.

44, that sks is weak . My friends is better. It has a 30rd banana clip and a synthetic draggy stock. he also has a nagant. It's pretty cheap but fun as hell to shoot. I have a Kar 98 and we go have WWII Re enactments. I have pictures too but im too lazy to scan them.

My SKS is a fully custom rifle. It has a hand made stock ( far better design then the Dragunov stocks ), DC muzzle break, custom trigger etc.
TBH, I really don't care much for it.
I use to have an ATI Dragunov stock and some 40 round magazines, but I sold the stock for lack of quality and handling and threw the magazines away for being more hassle then they are worth, when good ol stripper clips seams to work better then anything.
It's not a cheap, tossed out rifle with simple aftermarket accessories on it. It's a hand made, hand fit custom rifle.
Anyone advanced in firearms seams to agree that capacity is not a very big issue ( what is it to change mags? ) but rather the performance of the gun.
On the other hand, I do have a rifle up the ally of your friends, which is also a very well done rifle, although has aftermarket accessories on it alike your friends:

Which it's self, gets dime sized groups all day, at most ranges.

Personally, my Enfield No.4, M-1 Carbine, Colt T-22 and CZ-52 are my preferred performers.


As for your rifles, I have a section at my website ( shown below ) that shows how to build up various rifles with aftermarket accessories, including the SKS Dragunov stock deal. Although I don't think I have anything yet, I am going to have some up soon on the Mosin Nagent M-91 and Mauser K-98/VZ-24 etc.

The rifle is an M-1 Carbine. The link I provided has a thing that shows how to build one up like that.
The pistol is a Magnum Research Desert Eagle MARK VII in .44 Magnum.
My best suggestion would be to try http://www.gunsamerica.com and see if you can find one.
Throughout it's history, they have made 3 main versions ( MARK I, VII and XIX ) in 5 different caliber ( .357 magnum, .41 magnum, .44 magnum, .440 Cor Bon and .50AE.
The MARK Is and VIIs can be found for $600.00-$700.00 from time to time while the MARK XIXs usually range from $1000.00 to $1700.00.
In addition to the custom features on mine that are not visible in the picture, the gun has a Hogue 1 piece grip, baked-on and stickerd night sights and a Brushed Hard Chrome finish done by Checkmate Custom Finishing.
Desert Eagles are not reliable out of the box, and require ADVANCED custom gunsmithing to get them working right, and you can't put cast ( all led ) ammo through it, unless you want it to eventually back-fire on you.

Eh, if i was gunna have an eagle, i would want a 50. I mean, why not ? but i dont really like DE cuz they pull your wrist too much. They are tiring to shoot. My fav pistol of all time is the Colt 1911. I hope i can get a WWII era one before they are all snached up.

I am saving up for a Para Ordnance P-14 myself. It's a 1911A2 ( same thing as the A1 except it takes a double stack magazine ) and is stainless with a ramped barrel. One of the finest .45s ever made.


I am not crazy about the .50AE Desert Eagle, but the .44 Magnum MARK VII is REALLY NICE if you can rework it right.
The gun rightfully gets allot of bad reviews, but they never mention how good it ends up being once tuned up right. The .357 and .44 Magnum are the most useful of them. IMHO, the .44 Magnum is juts right for the gun.
I tuned my action, fitted my springs and trimmed my gas piston down to 0.370in and it shoots VERY NICE. Has a "BAGUMP" feel to it when you fire it.

I duno, as I said, my only experience with Russian products are guns.
I've seen people drink Russian Vodka, but never tried myself ( Guns and Vodka don't mix ).
I am very in to old fashion Russian architecture and culture though, and have lived around it for a while.
