I'm not sure how S-400 could be of any help. If Russia would use it, that would add more brown substance to the fan.
As long as there are several military groups involved in fighting terrorists in Syria(or rather deciding the future of Syria) there is always be a chance of military escalation that could potentially lead to a world war.
