My personal opinion is that vkontakte is dead without pirate content. They don't fight against it (and sometimes that's good, because I like to watch Soviet movies there, especially if I need just a quote). But the reality is different. Copyright sharks don't sleep. I have heard they want to force vkontakte use special software to prevent publishing or/and spreading pirate content on the site. If they realize this idea, vkontakte loses lots of its users.
