Another thing I remember about it: it had the "goto" operator, and an acquaintance of mine, who didn't know any programming but knew some English, asked me what it did. I explained, and he said that people who invented that language didn't know English (meaning "go to").

By the way, BASIC wasn't originally inended for computers.

С/C++ has no "until" keyword:
C keywords:
Code:
auto double int struct break else long switch
register tupedef char extern return void case float
unsigned default for signed union do if sizeof
volatile continue enum short while
C++ keywords:
Code:
asm auto break case catch class const continue default do else enum explicit extern for friend goto if inline main mutable namespace operator private protected public register return static struct switch template this throw try typedef union using virtual void volatile while

The role of the until loop is taken on by the do-while loop in C. Their expressive power is equal. :pardon:

What you probably meant was the difference between the "while" and "until" loop keywords which act like operators that evaluate the exit condition from the loop. When converted to the machine-bytecode-intermediate language, the "while-generated" condition would be the logical negation of the "until-generated".
The real difference between the while and until loops is whether the entry point to the loop is conditional (while) or unconditional (until).

All paths lead to C. Even those which start from Obama.

The ways of the C are inscrutable. :)
But with regard to Obama, I don't believe him now. So, will see...

Just curious... had you believed him before? If yes, what happened that just changed your mind? And also, what was there exactly to believe?

If you remember our last talk I was very skeptical about him then. Now it seems that he's not that bad, especially due to him trying to deliver on his promises. And it's generally a good thing for a politician, even though I might not always agree with him on some subjects. Overall, he seems to me more like a newly elected CEO (in a good way) than a traditional politician. However, don't forget he's just a politician. Power games have their inevitable rules.
Back to the good intentions, perhaps he has them too. But, do you honestly think Hitler or Stalin had bad intentions? Hitler was trying to raise Germany from the fall and the humiliation of the WWI. Stalin was hoping to make a better future for the world spreading the Communism around. Do you see my point? The devil is in the details. What will Obama have to sacrifice in order to achieve his goals? And what would be the consequences? We are yet to see.

Оh, sorry. I used "now"... It was a mistake. When I was writing I forgot that the "now" means "теперь".
Re: Obama's visit to Russia - Your Thoughts??
Оля,
I think this illustrates one of the differences in thinking between American and Russian people. Americans are far more prone to ridicule or demean our politicians than people of other nations. I'd be in favor of giving to Russia at no cost the entire US Senate, and the leadership of the House of Representatives, and you can keep them.
I think this attitude goes back into the early history of the United States. Alexis de Tocqueville wrote about American politics in the 1800's, and one of his statements seems to sum up the way Americans see government, "Government, at best, is a necessary evil."
Too often politicians live as if they are a ruling class, like they are better than normal people, and that bothers most Americans. After 225 years of ridiculing our politicians, it is now so natural, that we'll ridicule politicians from other countries.
I did not think his post was hate filled, it was typical American ridicule at our presidents. The part about START eliminating only old nukes has a basis in fact. Typically these kinds of treaties only dismantle the weapon systems that are near obsolete anyway. SALT and SALT 2 did that.

I'm a native Russian speaker. *)

Obama is the quintessential moderate Leftist proud of his African roots and is poised to fight against racism and capitalist exploitation. We should support Obama.
Re: Obama's visit to Russia - Your Thoughts??
Interesting post by you here Rockzmom! I really haven't been following American politics, but Obama seems quite decent to me.
Like Crocodile said - lObama made some promises in his campaign and now he seems to actually be trying to see them through. Plus he seems to be looking at improving education and healthcare for regular people in the US.
I know that Russia's media sometimes perhaps goes a little too far in blaming the US for internal problem there - I read some stories which seemed very exaggerated or blown up - For example I am sure that Russians are capable of having concerns about human rights issues without the US orchestrating it...
On the other hand - who can blame Russia for feeling rather vulnerable and under pressure? After several former Soviet countries are in Nato or have US bases on their territory! The Poland/Czech missile situation - had some vague similiarities to the Cuban missile crisis. Nobody wants missiles from a foreign power right on their border.
Imagine if the US went to war in North Korea. Once North Korea had been defeated there'd no doubt be a US base right next to the largest Pacific sea naval base, at Vladivostok which is very close to North Korea. There is already at least one US base in Central Asia, not to mention Afghanistan, and to the West across Eastern Europe.
Several top leaders in many of the former Warsaw pact countries and Balticum are people who in fact grew up in the US and have very strong links with the US government. Obviously that's not going to look so great from a Russian perspective.
This picture that I saw on a blog is supposed to illustrate how Russia has been feeling lately:

Re: Obama's visit to Russia - Your Thoughts??
I've read an article about a "chilly welcome" in Russia:
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/ ... dChannel=0
Every time the author mentions some polls or opinions, that prove Russians' indifference towards Obama, he promptly adds that these are "state-controlled" sources that say so, clearly implying that Russia's government either lies to people or fool Russians, hiding some vital info from them (like dates of Obama visit). Or hints that they are probably afraid that Obama might be more popular among Russians than the president of Russia..
That amazes me. Do some Americans sincerely think, that people should be overexcited, when a leader of a hostile (or at least not entirely friendly) state visits the country? And it's not like he's an American president for life. There will be another one in four or eight years.

I would be willing to chip in to pay Russia (or any other country) to take them. I also would not stop at that one branch of government.

So, this means that Barak Bin Obama is the quintessential moderate Marxist ashamed of his White roots and poised to fight for only Black rights and for Socialism! Hmmm! Sounds like a real wiener to me! He should be tarred and feathered and I assure you that he would have been back in 1776.

Russia and USA get rid of some old nukes; that's good for money... Keep Iran and North Korea nuke-free is important. @@@@ nut-jobs will start a war!
I read that Americans trust/don't trust Russia... Russians trust/don't trust America.

Until people like you exist, probability of war remains, indeed.
You are the cause of war! It is the stupid "sheeple" of the world who have no clue about human nature and history that allow wars to happen.
